Highlights From Ruppert's Birthday Party!

Dodge Ball Teams Announced

In honor of Ruppert's birthday tomorrow, Aug. 10th, the bears are hosting the 3rd annual mascot dodge ball game. Each year, the area's greatest mascots gather to compete in one of the greatest games of all time in honor of the Bears lovable mascot: "I am really looking forward to this year's game. Over the last two years, my team has gone 2-0 in the dodge ball game, and I have also had a history of dominating the mascot race on my birthday, so tomorrow should prove to be a great day," said Ruppert.

Milburn Street Fair

Hey fans, Ruppert here. I just wanted everyone to know what I have been up to lately. This past weekend I checked out the Milburn street fair. It was a great time! I hosted a little game I like to call "Ruppert's Roulette" - and I am pleased to announce the winners:

Jake Freelund, Miriam Shapiro, Michelle Higgins, and Scott Korde. Congrats! Each of you won a set of four tickets to any Bears 2008 home game.

Welcome Fans!

Hey Fans! How's it going?

I wanted to be the first to welcome you to the new Bears Blog. Check back all season long for an exciting behind the scenes look into everything Newark Bears! I can't wait to see everyone at Opening Day at "The Den" on April 29th - but until then, you will be able to get your Bears fill right here!

This past Tuesday we had our first official baseball game on the field, as Rutgers-Newark took on Farleigh-Dickinson University. The Scarlet Raiders defeated FDU 12 - 4. It was super exciting to see some action out there. The grass is starting to look green and the music was blaring.

Alright, well I have to get back to perfecting my "Cha Cha Slide." Thanks again for checking out our new blog. Don't be a stranger. --Ruppert
